The Kentucky Young Farmer Association had its state convention Feb. 23 through 26 in Lexington. The Christian County chapter entered 12 statewide and leadership contests and seven members won awards. A.J. Johnson won first place in Upland Soybeans and second place in the Straw Contest. Nathan Brame won first place in the Swine Weaner Pig Contest and third place in both the Beef Feeder Contest and Roundup Ready Double Crop Soybeans. Malcolm Oatts won second place in Yellow Corn. Austin Stevenson won second place in Burley Tobacco. Jason Powell won second place in Dark Fire Cured Tobacco and third place in Dark Air Cured Tobacco. Jonathon Moss won first place in the Rural Leadership Contest, second place in Soil and Water Conservation and second place in the YFA Member of the Year Contest.
