The Christian County Sheriff’s Department arrested a 29-year-old Pembroke man Sunday afternoon for an alleged murder that occurred early Sunday morning on Old Palmyra Road.

The suspect, Micah Steven Holland, is now housed in the Christian County Jail and is being held on a $1 million cash bond, according to a news release from the sheriff’s department.

Joey Weatherwax, 30, was found dead on Old Palmyra Road just after 3 a.m. Sunday. Weatherwax died after suffering a possible gunshot wound and being hit by an automobile, the release states.

“The call was given to (the Emergency Communications Center) as a male subject in the road that had allegedly been shot,” Dep. Steve Tucker said at the scene.

Weatherwax was pronounced dead at the scene by Christian County Deputy Coroner Mike Stokes.

The cause of death is still under investigation. Authorities are awaiting definitive autopsy results from Louisville.
