CADIZ, Ky. — Trigg County authorities confirmed at 2 a.m. Monday morning that the body of a Christian County man was found with his pickup truck after he ran off the road and into a river Saturday night.
Hal Fennell, 71, Christian County called a family member at 8 p.m. Saturday on his cellphone and said he’d run off a road and was floating down Little River in his pickup truck.
Early Monday morning, authorities confirmed a truck had been found in the river along with Fennell's body, according to a release from James Flood, a spokesman for Trigg County Emergency Management.
Saturday night deputies found tire tracks leading into the river at the spot where they believe the truck could have gone off the road. and began searching the river with boats and sonar radar from Marshall County Rescue. Glenwood Mill Road crosses Little River a few miles southwest of Cadiz between U.S. 68 and Caledonia Road.
Flood said they brought in dogs Sunday afternoon to search along with boats, aircraft and other gear from Fort Campbell.
Flood said the river is about 15 feet deep by the bridge. The water is not usually so high, but a large amount of rain recently has it running above average.
