A Hopkinsville man was severely injured this afternoon in an accident off Butler Road. The man was driving a motorcycle and collided with a truck.

The accident occurred just after 4 p.m. Christian County Sheriff's Department Dep. Eddie Frye said the motorcyclist was traveling at a high speed and hit a truck that was turning into a driveway. Frye said the motorcyclist hit on the vehicle's rear passenger side.

The man was ejected from his motorcycle following the collision. Frye said the man struck another vehicle on his way to the ground. The motorcycle lost its front wheel in the accident. The truck came to rest in a ditch along Butler Road.

Christian County EMS and the Highland Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene. The man was taken to Hopkinsville-Christian County Airport where he was air-evacuated to a hospital. Frye said his injuries are severe.

Frye said the truck driver's last name was Huddlenston. He wasn't sure of the motorcyclist's name. Both  men are in their 30s, he said.
