DNA evidence in 1991 murder ‘moot’

Posted: Thursday, July 10, 2014 9:10 pm

DNA evidence requested by the man convicted in a 1991 murder case was deemed moot as the man’s attorney and a Christian Circuit Court judge came to an agreement Thursday.

Charles Bussell’s attorney, Krista Dolan, conceded to Judge Andrew Self that the DNA evidence supposedly held by Hopkinsville police, which could overturn her client’s conviction, was non-existent. Bussell was convicted in 2008 for the 1991 slaying of 65-year-old Sue Spears Lail.
