A 25-year-old man turned violent while he was being treated Friday morning in the Jennie Stuart Medical Center, according to a Hopkinsville police report.
Martin Hood, Hopkinsville, was arrested and charged with third-degree assault.
He was being treated for consumption of synthetic drugs before he became verbally combative with the JSMC staff, the report states.
Hood allegedly then became violent and pulled out his IV from his arm and threw blood on the nurses. The report adds JSMC staff had to physically restrain him until police arrived.

- Kalyn Williams, 21, Hopkinsville, was arrested Thursday afternoon at Walmart on Clinic Drive after shoplifting, according to an HPD report. She was charged with third-degree burglary.
- Andrew Mcelhiney, 24, Hopkinsville, previously a fugitive of the week, was arrested Wednesday on West 17th Street for two counts of probation violation of a felony offense, according to an HPD report.
- Shannon Davenport, 40, Hopkinsville, was arrested Wednesday night on West 17th Street for first-degree possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, according to an HPD report.
