Hopkinsville police and firefighters responded to an apartment fire at Hazel and East 21st streets just after 6 a.m. Wednesday.

The complex has eight apartments. The fire started in one of the apartments and caused a significant amount of damage to it. The other seven apartments in the complex had smoke damage, said Eric Bleidt, spokesman for the Hopkinsville Fire Department.

Bleidt said authorities don’t yet know what started the fire.

Police evaluated the other seven apartments. No one was injured in the fire, said Lt. Michael Felts of the Hopkinsville Police Department.
