PRINCETON, Ky. (AP) — A western Kentucky man faces a murder charge after a highway crash that killed his passenger.
Kentucky State Police say 25-year-old Jeffery R. Alfred of Dawson Springs was also charged with second-offense DUI and leaving the scene/failure to render aid after the crash Tuesday on Kentucky 672 about eight miles east of Princeton in Caldwell County. He was taken to the Caldwell County jail.
Alfred wasn't injured in the wreck. But his passenger, 28-year-old Thomas A. Redden of Dawson Springs, died after being taken to Caldwell County Medical Center, police said.
Police said the wreck happened at about 10:30 a.m. CST when Alfred's pickup truck went out of control, left the road and hit a tree. The truck spun around and came to rest partially in the roadway, police said.
