Mowing crews to be on highwaysMotorists are reminded to be on alert as a contractor has started mowing along highways in several Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 1 Counties.

Mowing zones will be marked by appropriate signage and should be treated with the same respect and caution as other work zones. Drivers are urged to reduce their travel speed and be alert for slow-moving tractors and support vehicles that may be required to travel into and across travel lanes from time to time as they go about their work.

Contract mowing crews began working on the road around May 19 in Carlisle County and were working their way toward Ballard County with plans to move on into McCracken County in the next couple of weeks.

Some mowing has started along highways in McCracken County, particularly along 4-lane areas such as U.S. 45 outside Lone Oak and U.S. 62 in the Reidland area.

Crews will be working in other area counties over the next few weeks.

Mowers will be out working anytime weather conditions allow during daylight hours for about the next three weeks.

CorrectionBecause of a reporter’s error, Todd Wallace of the Trigg County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class was misidentified in one photo in last week’s paper.
