Pam’s picks this week are in honor of Black History Month. “Olympic Pride, American Prejudice” by Deborah Riley Draper and Travis Thrasher — this is the untold story of 18 African Americans who defied Jim Crow and Adolf Hitler to compete in the 1936 Berlin Olympics. “Overground Railroad” by Candacy Taylor, this is the story of the Green Book and the roots of travel in America from 1936 to 1967.

New Fiction: “A Long Petal of the Sea” by Isabel Allende, “A Longer Fall” by Charlaine Harris — this is the second book in the Gunnie Rose series; “Into the Fire” by Gregg Hurwitz, “A Small Town” by Thomas Perry, “Second Sight” by Sharon Sala — this is the second book in the Jigsaw Files; and “All the Ways We Said Goodbye” by Beatriz Williams.

New Christian Fiction: “Collateral Damage” by Lynette Eason — this is the first book in the Danger Never Sleeps series, “The Protective One” by Shelley Shepard Gray — this is the third book in the Walnut Creek series and also in large print.

New Large Print: “Shadow Rider: Apache Sundown” by Jory Sherman — this is the second book in the Shadow Rider series.

New Mystery: “Poppy Harmon and the Hung Jury” by Lee Hollis — this is the second book in the Desert Flowers series.

New Biography: “Hill Women: Finding Family and a Way Forward in the Appalachian Mountains” by Cassie Chambers.

New Non-fiction: “Family Fit Plan: A 30-day Wellness Transformation” by Natalie Muth, “You Bet Your Garden Guide to Growing Great Tomatoes” by Mike McGrath, and “Playing with Paints: Watercolor, 100 Prompts, Projects and Playful Activities” by Sara Funduk.

Geared Up: a new after school club for kids 5 and up. Thursdays at 3:30-4:30 in the basement of the library. Games, crafts, snacks and more.
