A planned holiday open house has already attracted the attention of businesses who are interested in participating in the event.
Sponsored by the Trigg County Chamber of Commerce and Cadiz-Trigg County Tourism, the event will showcase local businesses, inviting people to come by and browse.
It is a first in the community, notes Beth Sumner, the chamber’s membership director.
“We really haven’t done anything quite like this before,” Sumner said, noting that the chamber wanted to do something to promote local businesses and their open houses.
Businesses, chamber members as well as others, are invited to sign up by Nov. 1 to participate in the Mingle & Jingle Open House.
The event is slated for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 20, with customers able to find shopping opportunities, arts and crafts and food at the businesses taking part in the open house.
A $250 door prize will also be available for customers, who may register for the prize at boxes set up at each participating vendor.
“Love Local” gift bags will be given to the first 200 customers, including coupons, discounts and samples or items from the businesses, according to Sumner.
She said the open house will take place throughout the county. Vendors will be set up outdoors Cadiz-Trigg County Farmer’s Market and Junque Fest and indoors at Trigg Tropics.
A map will show shoppers the locations for all the open houses and booths, Sumner said.
The director noted that the Mingle & Jingle began attracting the attention of businesses within minutes of first being announced.
“We have had a very positive response,” said Sumner of the interest of local businesses.
She noted that similar events have been successful in other communities, and Sumner said the chamber really wanted to promote the holiday experience in the local community.
“We just want folks to get out and come and explore in Trigg County,” the director said.
Sumner noted that non-chamber businesses as well as businesses that belong to the chamber are invited to be a part of the inaugural Mingle & Jingle Open House.
Participation is free to chamber members and costs $25 for non-chamber members.
Businesses are encouraged to participate either by hosting an open house or booth or by providing promotional materials and items for the complimentary gift bags.
