Bro. Marshall Fortner, 93, of Cadiz, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 15, 2021, from Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville.

He was born August 15, 1928, in Clinton, the son of the late Bro. Henry Atlee Fortner and Estelle Dublin Fortner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bro. Jim Fortner; and a sister, Dorothy Mae Darnell.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Martha Stalons Fortner; a son, Billy Fortner of Cadiz; two daughters, Karen (Todd) Ladd and Kim Fortner, both of Cadiz; two grandchildren; a brother, Bro. Tom Fortner of Trenton, Tenn.; and two sisters, Betty Johnson of Dyer, Tenn. and Donna (Bro. Kenneth) Ballinger of Mayfield.

Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, where the family will receive friends after 4 p.m. on Friday, August 20, 2021. Funeral services will be at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 3666 Blue Springs Road in Cadiz, at 1 p.m., Saturday, August 21, 2021, with visitation to be from 11 a.m. until the hour of service. Bro. Richard Sexton, Bro. Tom Fortner, and Bro. Larry Cardwell will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
