Jimmy Clyde Smith, 74, of Lyon County, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2021, at Caldwell County Medical Center in Princeton, Kentucky.
Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main St., in Cadiz, where funeral services were held on Saturday, March 27, 2021, with the Rev. Ronnie Sivells and Dr. Mike Rust officiating. Burial followed in Caldwell Blue Spring Cemetery.
He was born Aug. 10, 1946, in Phenix City, Alabama, the son of the late Wilford C. and Lola (Harper) Smith.
Retired for several years, he had worked for A & G Tree Service and had previously worked in construction, notably on the building of Interstate 24, as well as the Fisher Price plant in Murray. An outdoorsman at heart, Jimmy enjoyed fishing and was an avid coon hunter for many years. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Confederate.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Darin Smith; a brother, Gene Smith; and three sisters, Angie Smith Hays and infants Patti Teresa Smith and Serenity Smith.
He is survived by two sons, Freddy (Teresa) Smith and Ronnie (Mitzi) Smith, and two daughters, Susan Smith and Melissa (Chad) Hargis, all of Cadiz; three brothers, Ricky (Debbie) Smith and John Smith, both of Eddyville, and Dean Smith of Kennesaw, Ga.; four sisters, Cathy Smith Wilcox, Paula (Carl) Box, and Gina Smith, all of Cadiz, and Darlene (Steven) Mestas of Columbus, Ga.; eight grandchildren, Lynzie (Michael) Mackey, Tailer Smith, Joelle (Jacob) Jenkins, Zachary Smith, Matthew Smith, Olivia Hargis, Allyson Hargis, and Harley Perry; and six great-grandchildren, Landon Mackey, Jaylaa Jenkins, Avery Mackey, Marleigh Smith, Adalyn Smith, and Brielle Harper.
