Ret. U.S. Army SSG. David W. Thompson, age 54, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2021, at his home.
Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz. Funeral Services will be at Goodwin Funeral Home at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 with the Bro. Mike Rambo and Bro. Paxton Redd officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West with full military honors in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
Born October 15, 1966 in Boone, Iowa, he was the son of the late Richard Jewell Thompson and Loretta Jean Wood Thompson. He proudly served in the United States Army for 20 years and 7 months. He was a Gulf War Veteran and served during Operation Desert Storm. He was a member of Trigg County Family Worship Center in Cadiz. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, and singing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lloyd Thompson; and niece, Keita Bendt.
He is survived by two sisters, Betty (Billy) Wilson of Falling Waters, W.Va and Jeanie (Daniel) Swanson of Spokane, Wash.; three nieces, Amber (Vincent) Reaver, Heidi Thompson, Jacqualine Bendt; and two nephews, Devan Wilson and Jacob Bendt.
