Gerald Timothy Corbey Sr., 85

Gerald Timothy Corbey Sr., 85, of Cadiz, passed away Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021, at Mercy Health — Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1698 Canton Road, Cadiz, at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021, with Father Gregory Trawick officiating. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. until the service hour. Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main St., in Cadiz.

Born March 3, 1935, in Lynbrook, Long Island, New York, he was the son of the late John F. Corbey and the late Anne Dargin Corbey.

He was a United States Army veteran, serving at Camp Breckinridge in Morganfield, Kentucky, permanent party, TDY, from Fort Knox, Kentucky, where he met and married his bride of 61 years. He retired from the Chrysler Corporation, where he worked in finance for over 30 years. A devout Catholic, he was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church and enjoyed traveling, reading, fishing, and playing golf.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Maxwell; and two sisters, Elizabeth and Eleanor.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine Truitt Corbey of Cadiz; a son, Gerald Timothy (Mary Jo) Corbey Jr., and daughter, Dana (Jack) Swartz, both of Toledo, Ohio; son-in-law, Gary Maxwell of Garden City, Mich.; nine grandchildren, Kyle (Dani) Maxwell, Jessica (Johnny) Mervyn, Jeffrey Maxwell, Gerald “Tim” (Stephanie) Corbey III, Dr. Todd Corbey (Mariah Orr), Jack Corby Swartz (Kass Loveland), Kent Swartz (Kelsey Collins), and Shelby (Kyle) Measles; seven great-grandchildren, Bryce Mervyn, Cora Corbey, Gerald T. Corbey, IV, Korby Swartz, Easton Hymore, Shayne Swartz, and Chase Measles; and a brother, Jack (Faye) Corbey of Mesa, Ariz.
