Donnie Hampton, 67, of Cadiz, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021, at his home in Cadiz.
Born June 29, 1954, in Elkton, he was the son of the late Bill Hampton and Mary Gibbs Hampton. He was retired from Barkley Lake Water District where he worked as a backhoe operator for several years and was a member of Liberty Point Baptist Church. Donnie loved the outdoors, playing softball and most especially spending time on the golf course. He was also passionate about hunting and had a keen eye with a bow and arrow, using the skills he had honed as a competitive archer alongside his brothers. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, and a good friend to many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Bobby Joe Hampton, Jerry Hampton, Tommy Hampton, Billy Hampton, and Jimmy Hampton; and two sisters, Mary Carol Carneyhan and Ruth Imbush.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Shelia Huddleston Hampton of Cadiz; his son, Kevin (Lesley) Hampton of Cadiz; his daughter, Becky (Kevin) Marlowe of Cadiz; three grandchildren, Raelyn Marlowe, Damon Marlowe, and Dixon Hampton, and a grandson on the way, Denver Hampton; his twin brother, Ronnie Hampton, and brother Danny (Diane) Hampton, both of Cadiz; and four sisters, Linda (Hulett) Webster of Princeton, Ky., Jean Ritcheson of Madisonville, Ky., and Ann (Sammie) Burnam and Sue Gail (Deon) Fox, both of Cadiz.
Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, where the family will receive friends after 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. Funeral services will be at Goodwin Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 18, 2021, with Rev. Paxton Redd and Scotty Hampton officiating. Burial will follow in Wall Cemetery in Wallonia.
