Barbara Lee Freer, 89, of Cadiz, formerly of Sturgis, Kentucky, died Thursday, July 9, 2020, at her home in Cadiz.
Funeral services were Sunday, July 12, 2020, at First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis.
Burial was in Pythian Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis.
Born Feb. 24, 1931 in Sturgis, she was the daughter of Mattieleen and Thomas Holeman Sr.
She was a faithful lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis, where she taught Sunday School and vacation Bible school. She was a Trigg County Senior Citizens Center volunteer. She retired from Richman Brothers Clothing after 43 years. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed quilting, cross-stitching and genealogy. Barbara was a caregiver to her parents, aunts and disabled sister.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Holeman and sisters, Lorene McCann and Sandra Holeman.
Survivors include daughter, Jackie (Ken) Oakley, Cadiz; two grandchildren, Tara (Todd) Alexander, Cadiz, and Brad (Erin) Oakley, Lexington, Kentucky; five great-grandchildren, Mac Alexander, Mabry Alexander, Will Oakley, Mary Jac Oakley and Parker Oakley; a brother, Ed (Leona) Holeman, Sturgis; and a number of nieces and nephews; special caregivers Anna Fears and Lisa Simmons, Cadiz.
