Andrew Thomas, 83

Andrew Thomas, 83, of Cadiz, passed away Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021, at St.Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.

Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main St., in Cadiz, where the family will receive friends beginning at 4 p.m., (today) Wednesday, Jan. 27. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc. Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021 with Bro. Russ Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Lucian Thomas Cemetery in Cadiz.

Born Aug. 7, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, he was one of a set of triplets, and one of five sons born to the late Hubert Jackson Thomas and Vada Wallace Thomas.

Andrew retired as an electrical engineer from Pennyrile Rural Electric in Cadiz after working there for over 30 years. He also served as the electrical inspector for Trigg and the surrounding counties for many years. He was a member of the former Cadiz Civitan Club where he had served as secretary and president. He was also a 60-year member of the former Cadiz Masonic Lodge #121, and was a member of the Rizpah Shrine Temple, Madisonville, Kentucky.

Andrew was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the Army Band where he played trumpet. During his time in the band, he had the opportunity to play during the ceremony of Alaska becoming a state. In his free time, he enjoyed tending to his garden and watching sports, especially the Kentucky Wildcats.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Thomas and two brothers, Charles Thomas and Billy Joe Thomas.

He is survived by a son, Steve (Tammy) Thomas of Cerulean; two daughters, Debbie (Bobby) Thomas of Cadiz and Andrea (Jerry) Jordan of Burns, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Dustin (Hannah) Thomas, Chase (Magen) Thomas, Joshua Jordan, Tanner Jordan, Kevin Thomas, Stephanie Thomas, and Matthew Thomas; four great-grandchildren, Kloe Thomas, Nolan Thomas, Grayson Thomas, and Jackson Thomas; and two brothers, Bruce (Joyce) Thomas and Dennis Thomas, both of Cadiz.
