John W. Brandon Jr., 79, of Roaring Spring, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.

Born February 25, 1942, at the family home in Roaring Spring, he was the son of the late John W. Brandon and Winnie Boatwright Brandon. He was a well-respected neighbor, friend, and lifelong farmer in the Roaring Spring community. John was a 1960 graduate of Trigg County High School. He was retired from Swisher International where he worked for over 45 years. A faithful member of Roaring Spring Christian Church, he served as a deacon there for more than 50 years, ordained in August 1971. John was a member of the Cadiz Bass Club since 1972 and was a championship fisherman. He enjoyed going on hunting and fishing expeditions with his good friends and could oftentimes be found on the golf course enjoying a friendly competition. Many people knew John as a great friend, always willing to reach out and help others. To his family, John was a beloved son, devoted husband and father, and proud BopBop.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 53 years, Linda Hancock Brandon; son, John Mark Brandon of Hendersonville, Tenn.; daughters, Tammy (David) DeHart of Caledonia and Lori (Trent) Ricks of Cadiz; six grandchildren, Ashley (Jonathan) Keller, Danielle (Josh) DeHart, Tori Ricks, Lexi Ricks, Livi Ricks, and Mari Kate Ricks; seven great-grandchildren, Lani Keller, K.K. Keller, Savanah Keller, Tyler Holder, Rain Morgan, Josie DeHart, and Ashton Morgan; two sisters, Betty Cook of Princeton and Becky (Ramon) Oliver of Cadiz; and his loyal walking companion, Gray Dog.

Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, where the family will receive friends on Saturday, January 8, 2022, from 10 a.m. until the funeral service hour of 1 p.m. Reverend Justin Carter will officiate. Burial will follow in Powell Cemetery in Lafayette.
