Edward L. Mitchell, Sr., age 77, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, passed away Monday, March 28, 2022, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville.

Born April 24, 1944, in Princeton, he was the son of the late Lacy Mitchell and Frances Hall Mitchell. He worked as a foreman for Daniel Construction for many years and was a collector of WWII guns and arrowheads. Edward enjoyed going fishing, hunting, and attending stock car races. He was a member of Caldwell Blue Springs Baptist Church and recently attended Edgewood Baptist Church in Hopkinsville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Edward Lacy Mitchell, Jr.; step mother, Thelma Mitchell; daughter-in-law, Diane Smith.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Donna Mitchell of Hopkinsville; daughter, Leigh Anne Gentry of Hopkinsville; sons, Kenneth (Annette) Smith, Kelly (Teresa) Smith, Tommy Smith, all of Hopkinsville; grandchildren, Megyn (Sean) Hamilton, Ian Gentry, Macy Gentry, Tiffany Smith, Ashley Smith, Lacey (Brian) Linton, Kaleb Smith; great grandchildren, Violet Hamilton and Kellen Linton; step-brother, Earl (Dee) Shaw.

Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, where the family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral service hour of 2 p.m., Thursday, March 31, 2022. Burial will follow at Caldwell Blue Spring’s Cemetery in Caldwell County.
