James C. "Jimmy" Jones, 82

James C. “Jimmy” Jones, 82, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2020, at his home in Cadiz.

Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 21 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 138 Main St. in Cadiz, with sons-in-law Reverend Mike Jones and Gary Lancaster officiating. Mark Harris will provide music. Burial followed in East End Cemetery.

Born March 24, 1938, he was the son of the late Mattie and Henry Jones.

He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who was a fighter to the end.

He was retired from the Trigg County School System as a bus driver and groundskeeper. He was a member of East Cadiz Baptist Church and was a former deacon, treasurer and long-term member of South Union Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Jones, and a sister, Doris Brewster.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Stella Calhoun Jones; two daughters, Angie (Gary) Lancaster of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Annette (Mike) Jones of Owensboro, Ky.; five grandchildren, Megan (Ryan) Johnson of Lawrenceville, Ga., Jessica (Preston) Humphries of Duluth, Ga., Shelby Lancaster of Lawrenceville, Ga., Caitlin (Jason) Dunbar of Bowling Green, Ky., and Brennan Jones of Bowling Green, Ky.; nine great-grandchildren, Tatum, Caden, Roman, and Maggie Johnson, Makayla, Bryce, and Luke Humphries, and Charleston and Lucy Dunbar; and two sisters, Kathy Folsom of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Dorothy Chewning of Hopkinsville, Ky.
