Jawuan Garrett is switching sports but staying in Trigg County athletics after it was announced that he will take the role of head coach for Trigg County High School track and field.

The Paducah native is currently teaching third grade social studies and is the girls head basketball coach at Trigg County Middle School.

Garrett was a three-sport athlete at Paducah Tilghman in his playing days, including being a part of the KHSAA State Championship winning team.

The newly hired coach has also spent time as athletic personal trainer, focusing on middle- and high school-aged athletes in developing speed, agility and strength, while also assuming the assistant track coach position at Calloway County Middle School.

The Tigers decided upon Garrett as the new coach for multiple reasons, stating that he shared his focus for our athletes is to learn their craft, develop their body and improve their mindset.
