A group prepares to walk past a luminary Saturday evening at Oak Grove’s War Memorial Walking Trail. Luminaries were placed every few feet at the trail for Oak Grove Community Cares’ first Walk to Remember. The event was conceived as a tribute to our soldiers ahead of Veterans Day. There were initially plans for four laps around the trail, each having a different meaning, but colder-than-expected weather shortened it to one lap. Local chaplains led prayers around different flags representing different soldiers (deployed, POW/MIA, etc) before the walk began.
