The Kentucky State Police Post 2 in Madisonville is investigating human remains that were found in Christian County.

According to a weekend news release from KSP, a farmer located the unidentified human remains off of Barkers Mill Road in Oak Grove.

KSP Post 2 was contacted around 9:20 a.m. Saturday by the Christian County Sheriff’s Office.

KSP Post 2 Public Information Officer Trooper Rob Austin shared that at this point, it is uncertain if the body is male or female due to the state of the remains.

“We’re waiting on autopsy, medical examiner and trying to track down the identity of this person, because at this point we don’t know the identity,” Austin said.

“Yesterday, when I talked to (the coroners) they didn’t know if it was male or female at that time.

Christian County Coroner Scott Daniel shared that the autopsy has concluded, but the report has not yet been finalized as his office is still waiting to receive dental records on the remains for identification.

The investigation is ongoing.
