Oak Grove Community Center is filled with events for the month of November with the most anticipated being the Thanksgiving basket giveaway.

Applications for the baskets are available at the Community Center for locals to fill out. Each Thanksgiving basket will be sponsored by “A Mission of Hope” who is a Christian outreach to help those in need in the Oak Grove Community, which includes Oak Grove, Ft. Campbell, Clarksville and surrounding communities.

The giveaway will be gifted on November 20, 2021. Dean and Dawn Thomas who are head of the mission are looking to help over 100 families in need during the holiday season. The wish list for each basket seeks to try and include a turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, canned corn, green beans, and sweet potatoes, cream of mushroom soup, broth, mac-n-cheese, ham, cranberry sauce, gravy, and dessert among many other grocery items. If you would like to donate or volunteer and help assemble Thanksgiving baskets, call the community to sign up.

Director of Oak Groves Community Center Melissa Lynch expressed excitement for the holiday season.

“We look forward all the events we will offer this month. We are honored to host the Thanksgiving give-a-way baskets,” said Lynch. “I thank the good Lord for Dean and Dawn Thomas who continue to bless our community with food each year. The community center as a whole as well as Mayor Jarvis appreciate all that they do.”
