Honoring heroism Community gathers for Memorial Day remembrance ceremony

During a Memorial Day service Monday at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, guest speaker U.S. Army retired Chap. (Col.) Richard Cooper said there are nearly 4,200 service members and their family members buried at the cemetery. Of those, 18 service members were killed in action. Service members who died while fighting the Global War on Terrorism also are buried at the cemetery, he said.
