Area artist are invited to enter the Hopkinsville Art Guild’s 49th annual Pennyroyal Art Exhibition.

The entry deadline is noon Sept. 7, and the exhibition will be Sept. 7 through Sept. 29 at the Hopkinsville Community College Auditorium Gallery.

The exhibit will feature works in the following categories: Drawing with pencil, charcoal, ink, and pastels; Painting using oil, acrylic, watercolor and encaustic; Mixed Media using collage, montage, or experimental; Photography; and 3-D including jewelry, woodturning, textiles, baskets, pottery, and sculpture.

There will be a "People's Choice Award" selected by visitors to the exhibit who will select their favorite piece of art and cast a vote for it.

Also there will be a special "Daedalus Award" this year given to an emerging young artist under age 25 who demonstrates technical and esthetic innovation.

Cash awards totaling $3,000 will be presented to winning artists during an awards reception from 2 to 3 p.m. Sept. 29 in the HCC gallery. The public is invited.

The exhibit will be free and open to the public for the month of October during the HCC gallery’s normal hours from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. Many of the original works of art will be for sale.
