MB Roland Distillery will host the first Mash Bash for the Arts on July 14. The event is a fundraiser for the Pennyroyal Arts Council.

Patriot Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Toyota of Hopkinsville are cosponsoring the event. The bluegrass rock band Bawn in the Mash from Paducah will perform. There will also be barbecue and other refreshments for sale.

The arts council will have a silent art auction of paintings, books and prints created by regional artists.

The arts council traditionally does a fundraiser each June. In years past, they have done a June Jam concert at the James E. Bruce Convention Center. Carol Barta, chairperson of the arts council, said the musicians they usually work with for the June Jam weren’t interested in participating this year so they decided to offer something different.

Barta said the arts council’s summer event serves as one of its major fundraisers each year. She said several board members for the council have visited the distillery and suggested it as a location.

“It is going to appeal to different people,” Barta said. “We are really looking forward to having an enjoyable time

of it.”

The event will last from 5 to 9 p.m. Admission is free and donations for the arts council will be accepted.

The distillery is at 137 Barkers Mill Road in Pembroke. For more information, call the arts council at 270-887-4295.
