3 Todd teachers recognized for Excellence in Teaching

At its 31st annual Excellence in Teaching Awards program May 20, Campbellsville University recognized 190 teachers from 69 school districts.

Three teachers from Todd County were recognized including Pam Conyea, Jessica Lear and Lisa Chandler, Todd County Central High School.

Conyea teaches special education at North Todd Elementary School, where she has taught since 2002. Lear is a sixth-grade reading teacher at Todd County Middle School, where she has been teaching since 2012. Chandler teaches algebra at Todd County Central High School, where she has been working since 2009.

A total of 3,580 teachers have been recognized for their teaching excellence throughout the years. The Excellence in Teaching Awards program is in partnership with Lexington’s CBS-affiliate, WKYT-TV.

Broderick graduates from Southeast Missouri State

Clayton Broderick, Elkton, is among Southeast Missouri State University’s spring 2017 graduates.

Broderick graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in education with a major in physical education K-12.

LaFayette student wins scholarship

The Fisher House Foundation named Morgan Derden, LaFayette, a recipient of the Heroes’ Legacy Scholarships for Children of Fallen or Disable Service Members.

The scholarship is made possible by corporate sponsorships, private donations and proceeds from the book “Of Thee I Sing. Letters to My Daughters” written by former President Barack Obama.

Derden is the daughter of Marc Derden. She attends the University of Alabama where she majors in psychology/biology.
