Kentucky State Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred at around 8 p.m. Thursday in Guthrie, according to a KSP press release.
The release states KSP was called by the Todd County Sheriff’s Department to investigate a two-vehicle collision resulting in the death of a woman.
Preliminary investigation of the incident revealed that James Gilkey, 72, Clarksville, was driving a pickup truck south on U.S. 79 approaching Rose Coblentz, 62, Guthrie, who was driving a tractor ahead of Gilkey.
Gilkey allegedly failed to observe Coblentz on the road and struck the tractor from behind.
Coblentz was ejected from the cab of the tractor after the tractor exited the roadway and overturned, the release stated.
Coblentz was transported to Tennova Healthcare in Clarksville where she was pronounced deceased, the release added.
Gilkey did not report any injuries in the accident, the release said.
KSP are continuing to investigate the crash, according to the release.
One passenger injured in two-vehicle collision on Madisonville Road
A passenger was injured in a two-vehicle collision at around 1 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Madisonville Road and Hickory Smokehouse Road, according to a Christian County Sheriff’s Office report.
The report states, Sabrina Bilyeu, 26, Hopkinsville, was driving north on Madisonville Road passing several cars as she approached the intersection with Hickory Smokehouse Road.
At the same time, Tonya Currey, 31, Nortonville, was making a left turn onto Hickory Smokehouse when Bilyeu struck the driver side passenger door of Currey’s vehicle, the report said.
The collision caused Currey’s vehicle to roll and come to a rest on its roof in a ditch.
Bilyeu’s passenger, Holly Bilyeu, 49, Hopkinsville, was taken to Jennie Stuart for a possible back injury, the report stated.
No one else reported any injuries in the accident, the report added.
