A two-vehicle collision Tuesday morning at the intersection of LaFayette Road and Country Club Lane sent one driver and her passenger to the hospital for injuries, according to a Hopkinsville Police Department report.

The report states, Julie Butler, 39, Clarksville, told officers that she was driving north on LaFayette going through the intersection with South Virginia Street while she had a green light. As she was going through the intersection, she was struck on the right side of her vehicle by another driver.

The other driver, Lourdes Gonzales, 27, Hopkinsville, told police that she was driving west on Country Club Lane crossing the intersection with LaFayette Road. She continued to tell officers that her light was green and proceeded through the intersection.

Gonzales saw Butler but stated that she didn't have enough time to avoid the collision and struck Butler's vehicle.

Two witnesses to the collision stated that Butler's light was green while she was going through the intersection and Gonzales' light was red, but continued through the intersection before striking Butler.

Gonzales and her passenger, Eleanor Alonso, who is less than one year old, were transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center while Butler did not request EMS, the report stated.

Gonzales complained of head, neck, chest and hand pain. It was unclear if the child had any injuries but was transported to JSMC to be determined.
