An Oak Grove U.S. Postal Service mail carrier died in a single-vehicle accident Saturday afternoon while on Herndon-Oak Grove Road, according to Christian County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Lyn Moe.

The mail carrier was identified as Robin Kennedy, 51, Clarksville, and was pronounced dead at the scene by Christian County Coroner Scott Daniel.

Kennedy was traveling east on Herndon-Oak Grove Road at around 2 p.m. Saturday when for an unknown reason, her front right side tire dropped off the right side of the road, causing her to overcorrect left and get back on to the road.

When Kennedy overcorrected to the left, her vehicle became sideways before she attempted to turn back towards the right and overcorrected, causing her vehicle to leave the roadway and enter a ditch off the right side of the road, Moe explained.

After entering the ditch, Kennedy’s vehicle rolled several times and ejected her from the vehicle before she landed on the asphalt.

Moe added that no alcohol use or excessive speeding is expected to be a factor in the accident.
