An accident Monday afternoon at an intersection on Fort Campbell Boulevard resulted in two passengers being transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for injuries, according to a Hopkinsville Police Department report.
The report states Christopher Harris, 54, Hopkinsville, was driving south on Fort Campbell while Wilbert R. West, 81, Hopkinsville, was driving east, coming out BB&T Bank parking lot, attempting to cross the southbound lanes.
Harris reportedly told police that he was driving straight when West pulled out in front of him. Harris attempted to avoid West by swerving into the right lane but was unable to, causing Harris to strike the driver’s side rear end, the report stated.
West told officers that he saw Harris driving behind another vehicle that made a turn off of Fort Campbell and believed that Harris had also turned. West reportedly thought the road was clear and attempted to cross the lanes before he was struck by Harris, the report added.
Harris’ passengers, Jennifer Harris, 34, and Stanley L. Bell, 53, both of Hopkinsville, complained of injuries and were both transported to JSMC via EMS.
Neither Harris nor West complained of injuries.
Harris was cited by police for failure to maintain insurance and out of state expired registration, the report added.
