A two vehicle collision Thursday afternoon caused a portion of West Seventh Street to be closed off as Hopkinsville Electric System personnel worked to reset a utility pole that was struck and broken during the accident.

According to Hopkinsville Fire Public Informations Officer Cpt. Michael Pendleton, between 2:30 and 3 p.m., an SUV collided with a truck, causing the truck to strike the utility pole on West Seventh Street near Rose Drive.

After colliding with the pole, the truck came to a rest against a front porch of a home. No one was injured in the accident.

The broken utility pole, caused an outage for roughly 500 people in the area, according to Jeff Hurd, General Manager of HES. The pole was fixed and power was fully restored at around 5 p.m., he said.
