Many changes are in the works in Hopkinsville and of the changes Hopkinsville’s movie theater is under new ownership.
Shane and Aubrie Pollock finalized the purchase of WK Cinemas just before the New Year rolled in with many changes that are currently under way at the newly renamed theater — now referred to as The Showbox.
The theater is currently closed but is set to reopen the first week of May.
The Showbox is currently under full renovation inside and out. The majority of plumbing and electrical work has been completed and dry wall and additional construction is soon to take place.
Some of the updates that will be seen inside the lush theater are luxury recliner seating, 4K projectors, atmospheric sounds, privacy pods in the dinner theater, service call buttons, themes designed by Bob Lancaster Designs with each theater having its own vibe and own name.
It’s March and Shane and business partner and wife Aubrie are knee deep in watching the transformation of the theater.
“I can’t believe March is here already. We are still planning to open to the community the first week of May,” said Shane. “That’s not far away so the pressure is on. While some days are hectic, we are so excited to be able to bring a completely new experience to Hopkinsville. We have such state of the art features that we are so ecstatic about. The Showbox will be an experience. We are ready to have this officially a part of the community.”
Of the additional features, The Showbox will also have a full bar and lounge with local vendors products available for purchase for those 21 and up. Dinner theater with meals provided by DaVinci’s Chef Pavel Skorpil, and DaVinci’s pizzas available to all theaters.
