Freddy's

Sonny Killebrew waits in line Thursday morning at the new Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers on Clinic Drive.

Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers opened Thursday morning, 30 minutes before planned, according to Freddy’s District Manager Scott Newhouse.

By 10:30 a.m., the line of cars for drive-thru spilled onto Clinic Drive, and the parking spots were nearly filled. Staff handed out paper menus to customers as they waited in their cars.

Inside, Newhouse and a team of trainers worked alongside employees to keep the order and pickup lines — one for frozen custard and one for food — for dine-in customers moving.

“It’s an amazing concept of steakburgers, chicken, fries and frozen custard,” Newhouse said of the menu. “We have a special fry sauce — you can put it on everything.”

Newhouse said Freddy’s of Hopkinsville has 45 employees, and the jobs are a mix of part-time and full-time.

“They’re all local staff, except for the trainers,” he said.
