Kentucky State Police, along with local law enforcement and the mother of Trooper Joseph Cameron Ponder, gathered Wednesday to remember the fallen trooper on the second anniversary of his death. Ponder was fatally shot Sept. 13, 2015, while conducting a routine traffic stop on Interstate 24 in Lyon County.  A flagpole was erected at the site of the shooting. Many flowers and other remembrances have been placed over the past two years.

A wreath was placed in remembrance of Ponder’s life and sacrifice and a moment of silence was held at 9:54 a.m. in memory of Ponder’s memory, whose unit number was 954.
