The Christian County Health Department reported Thursday two new COVID-19-related deaths. The county has seen 28 virus-related deaths since the pandemic began.

The individuals were both caucasian females. They were 94 years old and 91 years old.

The health department also reported 20 new verified cases from the Tie Breaker Park testing site. The county has 229 active cases.

The total number is three cases higher than Wednesday. But, 15 people have recovered from the virus since Wednesday’s numbers were released.

Gov. Andy Beshear reported 1,260 new cases throughout the state. According to state data, there are at least 84,195 active cases in Kentucky.

“We just can’t ignore it. We can’t pretend like it’s not here,” Beshear said. “We can’t allow the fact that we are inconvenienced make us pretend that the virus isn’t with us and isn’t deadly.”

Beshear also reported 20 new deaths throughout the state. Those deaths do not include the two recent deaths from Christian County, but do include one previously reported local death.

“I can’t tell you how painful it is to read 20 entries,” Beshear said. “We are going to have a lot more days like this if we don’t do better about wearing masks, about social distancing and about following the rules.”
