The Christian County Health Department reported a 15th death related to COVID-19 in the county Friday.

The individual was a 71-year-old female with underlying health conditions.

The health department also reported eight new cases. The county currently has 235 active cases.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear reported 948 new COVID-19 cases Friday. The state has seen at least 55,704 cases.

“This is the third highest number of positive cases we’ve ever had in a single day,” Beshear said. “Our positivity rate is also going up.”

As of Friday, the state positivity rate is at 4.7%. Thursday, the positivity rate was at 4.14%.

Beshear also reported nine new deaths related to the virus.

“Remember other people’s health and lives are on the line and we need you to do your part,” he said. “Do your patriotic duty. Wear your mask. Social distance. So little is being asked of us in this crisis. It just takes a little bit to be a hero right now.”

Although the county reported new cases Friday, the total number of active cases has not changed from Thursday. In the county, 766 people have recovered from the virus.

A total of 1,015 people have contracted COVID-19 since the pandemic began. Although, those numbers are only from the local health department.

The total case count is higher when First Care and Jennie Stuart Health testing is also calculated in. However, the White House only uses data from health departments when labeling counties.
