The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library serves the community in more ways than one with community events but large and small throughout the year for everyone to join.
On Wednesday, Sept. 14, HCCPL began its free conversational Spanish sessions led by Martha Argotte.
Argotte is a native Spanish speaker from Ecuador who plans to lead the group through a conversational Spanish program.
This course will last for 5 weeks for one hour on every Wednesday for the next handful hump days. Argotte profession is in Human Resources in which she’s been working in the field for over 25 years who has also taught middle school Spanish in the past.
Argotte expressed excitement with hopeful expectations for the following learning series. She began the class introducing herself alongside her goals for the next five weeks.
“Everyone in attendance, my goal is to have everyone hear not only learn the language but also have a clearer understanding of Spanish. I want us to have fun over the five weeks,” said Argotte.
This course will allow patrons of the class to practice speaking and understand phrases and colloquialisms to aid everyone aiming to communicate with native Spanish speakers.
Once Wednesday came to a close, Argotte opened the floor for the community to practice together, ask questions as well as give bonus tips on pronunciation and pointers for practicing the lessons that were studied during the intro session.
The community in attendance expressed not only excitement for the upcoming weeks but also a will to learn the beautiful language.

Each will as the Wednesday past by, every class session will build on the last with hopes of being able to communicate with more understanding of Spanish.
When class was dismissed, Argotte stayed for anyone who had additional questions.
This course will benefit those who signed up for the limited seating course in multiple ways. It will also bring everyone together from an educational standpoint as well as socially.
Though this 5 week course is already filled, be on the lookout for the next event HCCPL’s hosting events.
Hopkinsville’s Public Library is open 6 days a week and provides entertainment, education and programming opportunities for over 2500 patrons each month.
