Christian County Board of Education will hold a public hearing at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the Christian County Board of Education meeting room to hear public comments regarding the proposed general fund tax levy of 44 cents on real property and 44 cents on personal property.

The General Fund tax levied in fiscal year 2019 was 42.8 cents on real property and 42.8 cents on personal property and produced revenue of $15,505,260.01. The proposed General Fund tax rate of 44 cents on real property and 44 cents on personal property is expected to produce $16,729,479.53. Of this amount, $2,442,171.32 is from new and personal property.

The compensating tax rate for fiscal year 2020 is 42.4 cents on real property and 42.4 cents on personal property and is expected to produce $16,121,134.81.

The general areas to which revenues of $1,224,219.52 above 2019 revenues are to be allocated are as follows: cost of collections $48,969; building fund $116,510 and instruction $1,058,740.52.
