A Hopkinsville man was arrested on a Christian County warrant at around 3:25 a.m. Thursday while on Sherwood Drive on theft related charges, according to a Hopkinsville Police Department report.

John T. Smith, 46, Hopkinsville, was served a warrant for theft by failure to make required disposition of property over $500, but less than $1,000.

The report states Smith failed to return a window air conditioning unit, a Samsung 65-inch TV and a Hotpoint washer and dryer, valued at over $500 that he allegedly rented from Bolin Rental Purchase.

Smith had stopped making rental payments and did not return the property even after the business made several efforts to retrieve the property, the report added.

Smith was also served a Todd County warrant for contempt of court, the report said.

The following information was obtained through police, police reports or the Christian County Jail. Readers are reminded that a charge is only an accusation and everyone is entitled to the presumption of innocence until proven guilty in a court of law
