A man was arrested around 6 a.m. Wednesday at his home on Linda Drive after allegedly assaulting the mother of his child and refusing to let her leave.
According to a Hopkinsville Police Department report, officers received a call regarding a disturbance at the home, and when officers arrived, Alex J. Deason, 19, Hopkinsville, was inside his bedroom holding his infant child and refused to allow the child’s mother to leave the room.
Police spoke with Deason’s father who reportedly told them Deason had pushed the child’s mother earlier in the day.
According to the report, Deason was intoxicated, refused to put the child down and ignored commands by police to leave the room and allow the child’s mother to exit.
A short time later, Deason let the child’s mother to leave the room and was arrested.
A loaded firearm was found in the room during the incident, the report added.
Deason was charged with first-degree unlawful imprisonment, fourth-degree assault (domestic violence), first-degree wanton endangerment and resisting arrest.
