A man was served a Christian County warrant at around 10:50 a.m. Tuesday while at Canton Pike for allegedly stealing money from his place of employment, according to a Hopkinsville Police Department report.

Shelby F. Walker, 29, Hopkinsville, was served the warrant carrying a single charge of theft by failure to make required disposition of property over $500 but under $10,000.

The warrant states Walker, while working at Max Fuel on Canton Pike, devised a scheme where he would accept cash from customers, put it aside, give change rom the cash register after calculating the change on his phone and then void the sale, keeping the cash for himself.

Walker allegedly stole more than $6,000 from the store.

When Walker was confronted regarding the theft by his employer, he reportedly ran out of the store in the middle of his shift and never returned, the warrant said.

There is surveillance video showing Walker’s alleged actions, the warrant added.

The following information was obtained through police, police reports or the Christian County Jail. Readers are reminded that a charge is only an accusation and everyone is entitled to the presumption of innocence until proven guilty in a court of law
