A man and a woman were arrested around 6:55 p.m. Thursday while at the Best Western hotel located on Fort Campbell Boulevard on drug charges, according to a Hopkinsville police report.
Police were reportedly called to the hotel in reference to a guest who refused to leave. Hotel management told officers someone was smoking in the room the two were staying in.
Officers met with Gregory M. Herald, 29, and Sonya Salyers, 38, both of Hopkinsville. The report states Herald had dilated pupils, was speaking fast and would not sit still. While at the hotel, Herald reportedly went to his truck to find his ID for police. While in his car, officers noticed three purses in the vehicle.
Salyers allegedly only claimed one of the three purses. Officers searched the purses and found methamphetamine, a meth pipe, several small baggies and two needles in one of the unclaimed purses.
After both Salyers and Herald were detained by police, officers found marijuana in a green bottle in Herald's pocket. In Salyer's purse, officers found methamphetamine. Herald also had a large amount of cash in his underwear. Police say the cash is consistent with trafficking drugs.
Both Herald and Salyer were charged with first-degree trafficking in meth. Herald had an additional charge of possession of marijuana.
