A Hopkinsville man was arrested around 1:45 a.m. Tuesday on Bassett Street after an altercation with his girlfriend.

Darrell L. Reese, 49, Hopkinsville, was charged with second-degree robbery, tampering with physical evidence and intimidating a participant in the legal process.

The report states police were called around 12:45 a.m. to a home on Copperfield Avenue for Reese assaulting his girlfriend.

The woman told officers that Reese choked her and bruised her left arm before stealing from her, the report said.

During the altercation, Reese allegedly took his girlfriend’s phone while she was trying to call police. He then left the home and was later located on Bassett Street where he was arrested.

Officers found a bottle of oxycodone with the woman’s name on it, laying a short distance from where Reese was apprehended, according to the report.

Reese allegedly admitted to taking the pills and advised police that he had hid some of the pills behind a grill at the Pennyrile Homes. Police later found the stolen pills.

The report added that Reese is also wanted out of Georgia.
