Robert "Bob" Chope, 77, Cadiz, died at 4:08 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, 2019, at Saint Thomas Medical Center West in Nashville of natural causes.
A visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Goodwin Funeral Home Inc. in Cadiz. Masonic Rites will be at 6 p.m.
A native of Reading, Surrey, England, he was born Feb. 13, 1942, the son of the late Francis Samuel John Chope and Doris Ash Chope.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John Chope and Andrew Gilmartin; and his sister, Sheila Thomas.
He served 12 years in the Royal Navy before becoming an American citizen in 1977, along with his family. He worked for 40 years as a safety engineer for various insurance companies until his retirement. He served on the Board of Governors for St. Louis Shriners Hospital and was very active as a Shriner, serving as High Priest and Prophet of Rizpah Temple in Madisonville. He was also a member of Princeton Masonic Lodge No. 82.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Diane Mead Chope, Cadiz; his sons, Kevin Robert (Suzanne Kinsman) Chope, Chicago, Illinois, Andrew Julian Chope, Big Rock, Tennessee, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
