Doris Houston

Doris Jean Bussell Houston, age 79, died, Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Jennie Stuart Health of natural causes.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, January 15, 2021 at Durrett Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Johnnie Deeds officiating. Burial will be in Cave Springs Cemetery.

A native of Christian County, she was born April 30, 1941, daughter of the late Clarence and Ethel Hobson Bussell, Jr.

She was a member of Durrett Avenue Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Choir. She was also one of the oldest members of the Church. She was employed as a Nurse’s Aide at Western State Hospital, from which she retired after 30 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Danita Barbour; and sisters, Betty Quarles, Janice Byers and Elizabeth Bussell.

She is survived by her children, Anthony Barbour, Hopkinsville, Carol Harris, St. Petersburg, Forida, Ronald (Tracy) Barbour, Clarksville, Gary Barbour, Hopkinsville; siblings, Diane Gray, Betsy M. White, Linda Hector, Jerry Bussell, Terry Bussell, Clarence Bussell III, all of Hopkinsville, Larry Bussell, Maryland, Kenny R. Bussell, Louisville, Charles Bussell, Central City; and six grandchildren.
