William A. Lile, 89, died at 4:27 p.m., Sept. 26, 2015 at Christian Health Center of natural causes.
Services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 29, at the Crofton Christian Church with the Rev. Rick Loader officiating.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Crofton Christian Church and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the funeral.
Hughart, Beard and Giles Funeral Home in Crofton is in charge of arrangements.
A native of Muhlenburg County, he was born July 26, 1926, the son of the late Morton and Lena Mosley Lile.
He was a teacher and coach at Crofton High School before he took a job with Peabody Coal Company where he retired as Superintended of the Kent and Alston Mines. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Crofton Christian Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher, Deacon, Elder and trustee. He was chairman of the Board of the Christian County Water District for several years. He was also chairman of the Board of Gordon Park and served as a director from the time the park was established. He also served on several local and county boards.
He was a United States Navy veteran and served in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Nell Clark Lile; a daughter, Deborah Susanne (Romey) Bardwell, Hopkinsville; a son, William Clark Lile, Crofton; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Crofton Christian Church or Gordon Park.
