Elias David Hargrove, age 84, of Cadiz, passed away Monday, July 26, 2021, at his home in Cadiz.

Born June 21, 1937, in Trigg County, he was the son of the late James “Ben” William Hargrove and Erline McBride Hargrove. He was employed as a salesman and driver for 27 years at Southeast Periodical in Miami, Fa. He also worked in the maintenance department at Lake Barkley State Park for 18 years and was a well-known repairman in the Cadiz and Trigg County area. David was a member of Donaldson Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed tinkering and fishing.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, David Daniel Hargrove; daughter, Beverly Diane Robbins; two brothers, Hershel “Toad” Hargrove and Bobby Hargrove; five sisters, Sue Skinner, Martha Jean Oliver, Margaret Dunn, Mary Lou Braucht, Carolyn June Brown; two grandchildren, Poppy Lynn Moseley and Christopher David Moreno.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 49 years, Ruby Troutman Hargrove of Cadiz; son, Gaylon Scott (Tresa) Hargrove of Simpson , Ill.; two daughters, Sandra (John) Patterson of Winterhaven, Fla. and Dana (Davy) Burd of Pembroke; ten grandchildren, John Patterson, Bailey Hargrove, Kimberly (L.J.) Adams, Lyndsey (Mitchell) Jenkins, David Burd, Jamie Carden, Timothy (Cherie) Farmer, Charlene (Jesse) Carroll, Brittany Farmer, Angela (Darryl) Perrine; twenty-three great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Hood of Bascom , Fla. and Judy Carr of Cadiz; and sister-in-laws, Barbara Hargrove and Angie Hargrove, both of Trigg County; along with a host of nieces nephews.

Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, where the family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, July, 28, 2021. Memorial Graveside Services will be at Atkins Cemetery in Trigg County at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 29, 2021, with the Rev. Freddie Ezell and Rev. Paul Cannon officiating.
